Miscellaneous
We have been involved with designing other forms of geotechnical structure including:
- Earthworks
- Spread foundations
- Piled foundations
- Soil nails
The first three categories are usually designed in accordance with BS EN1997-1:2004 ('Eurocode 7'). Soil nails are currently designed to BS8006-2:2011 with additional guidance from CIRIA C637.
We have designed or checked the following:
- Soil nails for stabilising a re-profiled railway cutting slope
- Shallow spread foundations for a railway station building
- Vibrated Concrete Columns (VCC's) supporting a railway sidings embankment
- Laterally loaded piles forming a King Post retaining wall
- Micropiles to strengthen existing foundations to a railway bridge
- Slope stability analysis of railway cutting slopes for a bridge reconstruction project
- Structural analysis of the effects on anchor piles supporting platform end impact walls at a railway station
- Anchor Post foundations to support lightweight signalling structures on Transport for London rail lines
- Anchor Post foundation to support drilling rigs operating on sloping ground
